My Husband Tagged Me!

No need to call the cops or anything. He’s a good man and didn’t mean any harm.

It seems that Mike has given birth to a new meme. At least I think that’s what he said:

While I was thinking about Bacon numbers and the like, I happened to have my browser open and I caught sight of a recent comment, and thus was a new meme born.

Here’s how it works:

1. Go to the latest comment you have from someone else. Go to the blog of the person who made it. If that person doesn’t have a blog, go to the next one.

2. Click the latest comment on that blog from someone else. Go to the blog of the person who made it. If that person doesn’t have a blog, go to the next one.

3. Do this again until you have gone six blogs away. If anyone on the way doesn’t have a latest comments widget, just pick the first comment you see.

4. Post about it. Tag at least a couple of other people.

Mike posted his and then tagged me, so here’s what I found on my little journey:

Finding My Fictional Way

Gary, my friend and fellow blogger, recently had the idea to start a blog ring/group for writers and readers of fiction. The name of the group is Idiosyncratica, and you can find links to all the members in my menu.

Although I’m more of a reader than a writer, this has rekindled a long-neglected desire to write fiction and I have to admit, it’s somewhat frightening.

Two Kinds Of Texans

There are two kinds of Texans: those who are born here and stay, and those who are born here and get the hell out as fast as they can. Count me in with the latter.

Before I get started, I believe a couple of acknowledgments are in order.

First I would like to thank Mike, author of The Odd Blog, for his dedication to exposing fools and liars who insist on promoting creationist propaganda. Ben Stein’s Expelled! is but one example of the kind of garbage that Mike refuses to tolerate.

Upon checking in at The Odd Blog, as I routinely do, I found Mike’s latest entry, Ouchies. I do not share Mike’s talent for slicing and dicing these creationist fools, so I was delighted to learn of a way that I, too, can help expose at least one.

I would also like to thank PZ Myers, author of Pharyngula, one of the best science blogs I’ve seen. Professor Myers recently made a blog post calling for other bloggers to help promote a counter-site to Ben Stein’s “hideous little propaganda film” Expelled!. For instructions on how to participate, please see Professor Myers’s post, Bloggers, you have a job to do. While you’re there, please have a look around the rest of the site. You’ll be glad you did!

At this point, you may be wondering about the title of this post, and if I’m planning to tie it in somehow. Of course I am. I do tend to ramble, hence the title of this blog. I always know where I’m going, though, and I usually get there eventually.

This and That

So the work-at-home gig is going well. I haven’t actually worked in the nude yet, although I do spend most of the day in my pajamas. The most unexpected thing about this new arrangement is the fact that I feel slightly guilty about it. I know I’m doing the work correctly, but it just seems too easy; too relaxed. I keep thinking how odd it is that I’m actually being paid for it.
