Butterfly Award

Yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised by a nomination to receive the Butterfly Award. This honor was granted to me by Heidi, author of Southpaugh Homeschool, who has been a source of encouragement to me for the past couple of months. I consider it an honor to receive this award from her:

By accepting this award, I agreed to the following:

1. Put the logo on your blog
2. Add a link to the person who awarded you
3. Nominate 10 blogs that you follow
4. Add links to those blogs
5. Leave a message to those nominees on their blog

First, a couple of things:

No one on this list should feel obligated to accept the award. Choosing not to accept or even not to respond to this post will absolutely not cause hard feelings on my part. By composing the list, I am simply acknowledging a few people whose blogs make me smile, encourage or inspire me or otherwise bring me pleasure. Thank you for your contributions and your thoughtfulness!

If you are not on the list, it’s not because I don’t appreciate you. It’s probably because you got one last time, so stop your whinging. ::wink::

Now, without further ado, I would like to offer the Butterfly Award to:

My Crazy Life would have definitely made the list, but since it’s Heidi’s other blog, it seemed redundant to give the award right back to her.

Thank you again, Heidi, for thinking of me and for all your encouragement!

Saturday Cartoons: Award Ceremony

A couple of months ago, my friend, Gary, received his first blogging award! I was not surprised at all to learn that Gary had received an award for excellence in blogging. He is an outstanding blogger, after all. I was caught off guard, though, when I saw my name on the list of people to whom he had passed on the award. Perhaps it was shock that caused me to miss the part that mandates passing it on (OK, that’s probably not what caused it but it sounds better than admitting that I had a Duh! moment).

The award was designed by Kate, and here are the criteria for receiving it:

“It’s issued by bloggers to bloggers who show excellence and thoughtfulness in blogging, especially those who are not afraid to be related to a monkey.”

I would like to thank Gary for bestowing upon me this honor. He is a brilliant writer whose opinion I value very much, and to receive such an award from him is very meaningful and encouraging.

Now, keeping the criteria in mind, I would now like to pass this award along to:

Allusions of Grandeur

Gone Fishin’: Postcards From God

Quarkscrew

The Bad Idea Blog

The Sensuous Curmudgeon.

I would have passed it along to Ed Darrell of Millard Filmore’s Bathtub, but Dorid had already given it to him. My husband Mike was on Gary’s list as well.

Now, in celebration of this prestigious award, and in honor of my fellow primates, I will now present today’s Saturday cartoon, which I believe to be appropriate for this very special occasion:

Ren & Stimpy – I’m Gonna Be A Monkey

Where Was I?

This is kind of weird. I wasn’t able to get online for a couple of days because the monitor on the other laptop was broken. I finally got this one up and running, and I like it quite a lot, but I’m still getting used to it.

Having been away for two days and returning with a new machine, I feel a little disoriented. It’s like I had been in the middle of a long and meaningful conversation, and someone distracted me by talking about cheese or potting soil or something, and when I tried to get back to the conversation, couldn’t remember what I was about to say.

I think I was about to write something very profound; something so amazing that WordPress would decide to start giving out awards, present the first one to me, and then actually name the award after me. Of course, with all the touring and interviews that are certain to follow, not to mention the time consuming chore of having to console Oprah every time I turn her down, I won’t be able to host the ceremonies myself. I suppose I’ll need to appoint someone. I’ll get back to you on that.

Cheese.

Shit. Where was I?
