Not only was Obama accused of sexism for using a common turn of phrase, he’s now being accused of attacking the disabled. Here’s why:
Yeah, according to some McCain supporters, Obama is mocking McCain’s disability:
Right. And as every 21st century cave-dweller knows, the inability to type on a keyboard renders a person completely incapable of sending email or even accessing the internet. It’s not because McCain just hasn’t bothered, and it’s not because he’s out of touch or behind the times. No, he can’t use a computer because he can’t type.
Listen up, McCainiacs: the notion that someone is incapable of sending an email or using the internet because he has a disability that prevents him from typing on a keyboard is what some people might find offensive. In fact, some of us might consider that to be the slur.
Have none of these people heard of voice recognition software? Some people who can’t type use it to write complete novels! And I’d be willing to bet that McCain has more money to buy the stuff than the people I know who use it. Yeah, he could have top-of-the-line!
And you will not convince me that the “journalists” who are spinning this enormous pile of steaming crap don’t know about voice recognition software. A lot of people who aren’t even disabled use it just because it’s cool or convenient or faster, or just because.
How dare these McCain supporters undermine the accomplishments of disabled people by suggesting that they’re helpless when it comes to modern technology? And just to score a few political points too! This not only shows their desperation, it shows how unscrupulous they are.
It’s shameful and disgusting, or it should be; I wonder if McCain and his lackeys are capable of feeling shame at this point.
