Bonnie on Fox 9 News

By Lottie

Bonnie works for the Minnesota Department of Health. We haven’t had any confirmed cases of swine flu up here, but MDH is making preparations for around the clock investigation. The Fox 9 News crew was out at Bonnie’s lab yesterday and caught a few good shots of her on the job. We’ve both had trouble embedding the video, but here is a link:

Fox 9 Inside State Health Lab

A quote from Bonnie, herself:

Once again, I’m proud to be a member of a excellent State health lab. Minnesota can be confident that we’re doing everything we can to protect and maintain the health of the citizens of Minnesota.

Makes a sister proud too! Good job, sis!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Lottie!

Unfortunately, today Minnesota has its first confirmed case of what MDH is choosing to call “novel H1N1 influenza.” The child appears to be doing well and is expected to make a complete recovery. Let’s hope that this is the end of it here. MDH will be on top of this disease, however it plays out, rest assured.

I want to say thank you so much to your “sister” there. I am hoping for the best case scenario but in case that isn’t what happens it is people like you (Bonnie), behind the scenes doing what you do that will make everything work out as well as possible. :)

  3. Lottie Says:

Bonnie: Thanks for keeping us posted. I’m sorry to hear about the sick child, but glad to know the prognosis is good.

With you on the job, I definitely rest assured!

Terra: Thanks for commenting. I agree with you 100%.

Swine flu is yewah’s punishment on us for eating pork. Unclean! Unclean!

  5. saintpaulgrrl Says:

This strain of new influenza (H1N1) is more likely caused by Humankind’s crude agricultural practices in undeveloped countries of letting the pigs and fowl mingle so the pigs can eat the bird crap and ingest more nitrogen into their diets. Knowledgable sources on mutating strains of influenza have been telling these folks for a long time that this is a dangerous practice! :-(

Glad to hear you all are OK up there. Please forgive me. I was insensitve. I’ve removed that post…

  7. Lottie Says:

    Hi Dam,

Glad to hear you’re OK down there in Texas! Looks like we can all relax now, though.

Thank you for your thoughtful words regarding “that post”. It means a lot. I hope we can put it behind us and move forward.

  8. dam Says:

I have no doubt we can put this behind us…When it comes to people, there are always bumps in the road. But, mostly, the road is really good. Speaking of which, did you ever read “The Road”? Good book.

  9. Lottie Says:

    Yes, the road is good.

I have not read The Road, but I just read the plot summary and it sounds interesting. I’ll have to check it out sometime. Thanks for recommending it.
